In October 2007, KraussMaffei founded the Centre for Functionally Integrated Lightweight Structures as one aspect of its PRIMUS activities. In cooperation with the universities of Chemnitz and Dresden, the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences and other partners, the centre will focus on developing new processes and machine technologies for the production of fibre-reinforced lightweight elements.

Plastics processing machinery for the automotive industry
With substantially expanded development labs, KraussMaffei is driving development in innovative processes to combine polyurethane processing and injection moulding. The Centre for the Automotive Industry is also working on optimizing foam moulds for car-interior trim and on post processing technologies, such as pressing, punching and cutting.
